Throughout the first season, Usagi brushes her duties off as Sailormoon. She still wanted to be a normal teenager and she didn’t want to worry about monsters all of the time. She meets with the other inner senshi and before long, it is revealed that USAGI is the moon princess that they had been searching for! She also knew now that she was in love with Tuxedo Kamen, who was her love in her past life, Endymion. She was heartbroken when the Dark Kingdom stole and brainwashed him. She didn’t want to be a princess and she didn’t want to be a sailor senshi. Eventually though, she had to face Queen Metallia, the ruler of the Dark Kingdom. Her friends were killed before her very eyes and Tuxedo Kamen died in her arms. There was only so much that she could take. She had to transform into the Princess and she unleashed the power of the mighty ginzuishou against Metallia. Invoking the power of her friends, she destroyed Metallia once and for all and then she died. Not to worry though, because the ginzuishou reincarnated her and all of her friends and granted her wish to be a normal teenager. Peace was hers…but only for a year…. Her peace was shattered with the arrival of Ail and Ann (anime only). Luna was forced to reawaken the senshi of the moon. Usagi missed her friends dearly as they still had no recollection of all the things that they had been through. And Mamoru did not have his memories either. Usagi found herself in competition with Ann for Mamoru’s attention. After a few episodes, Luna had to reawaken the other senshi as well. To take the place of Tuxedo Kamen, Tsukikage no Knight arrived. Finally, Sailormoon with the help of the Makaiju tree was able to help the two aliens see the error of their ways and together, Ail and Ann left the earth to start over. Almost immediately after that, the Black Moon Clan crashed the party. The mysterious pink haired child known as Chibiusa fell out of the sky looking for the ginzuishou which came as a huge shock to Usagi.. Another shock came within a few days when Mamoru rudely dumped Usagi. Still, our odango atama held out hope that he still loved her (which he did) and that in the end everything would be okay.. Usagi was forced to mature a lot in this series to save the future. She had to confront an evil Chibiusa who had her mind set on killing her. She found out about her future and knew that she had married Mamoru and together they had a child. At the end of the series, Sailormoon transformed into Neo-Queen Serenity and with the help of the other senshi and Chibiusa, they defeated the Death Phantom. In the Super series, Usagi met two new senshi, Haruka and Michiru. Their mission was to find the three talisman, but in doing so, 3 innocent people had to be sacrificed. Not understanding why it had to be that way, Usagi and her team were at odds with the two outer senshi. Then after the 3 talisman were found, the outer senshi’s mission changed to that of finding the messiah. As soon as the outer senshi discovered that saturn was the anti-messiah, they tried to kill her. Sailormoon saved her and tried to protect her from the outer senshi. Usagi took the side of Chibiusa and sought to save Hotaru from death. Throughout the entire Mistress 9 chaos, Usagi remained firm in her belief that Hotaru was innocent and she should have another chance. In the end, her belief was justified when Saturn destroyed Mistress 9. The outer senshi finally learned to respect her and they accepted her as their leader. The SuperS series was not really a maturing time for Usagi as it was mainly focused on Chibiusa. ^_^ The Sailor Star was series was a hard time for Usagi. First, both Mamoru and Chibiusa left so she was a little lonely. Her friends took her out and tried to cheer her up. (Those are some good friends for you!). It was during the later episodes that Usagi’s sadness began to show. She hadn’t received any letters from Mamoru, and the outer senshi would not let her near her friend Seiya. Then came the big fight with Galaxia and her friends were killed in front of her very eyes. And to top it off, she found out that Mamoru was dead! With all of this on her mind, Usagi was still able to see through to the goodness still left in Galaxia and it saved the galaxy.
Usagi went through good and bad times and it was the bad times that she held on to her hope and her faith that everything would be alright. Sailormoon is the most powerful of the senshi because of her heart. There is NO trace of evil anywhere in Usagi and that is what makes her so strong. That and her faith in people.
